A fresh (and joyful!) way to provide healthy food access east of the river

My neighbor texted me the other day, "Is it okay to go to the Martha's Table markets?" My response was an emphatic "Yes! You should go! Everyone is welcome, it doesn't matter your income level."

What's not to love about fresh fruits and veggies?! And with Martha's Table and their Joyful Food Markets it gets even better because all of the food is free! That's right, fresh fruits, veggies and even grocery staples for you and your family! No income requirements or documentation in order to attend. You can visit as many markets as you want. Just bring some bags if you have them and some friends and family. Consider taking seniors and others living on a fixed income, they can really benefit from the markets.

Besides providing no-cost food, what I really love about these markets is that it removes the barriers from accessing healthy foods and provides creative ways to either introduce or support people's ability to eat healthy.  During the events people can interact with Martha's Tables chefs to learn how to prepare healthy and tasty meals. By coupling education with no-cost food Martha's Table is not only providing access to healthy food but promoting a healthy lifestyle. It's giving kids and adults the opportunity to try new foods and new ways of preparing food.

Martha's Table also has a mini market in their lobby at their new Ward 8  headquarters located at 2375 Elvans Rd SE. The market is open Monday - Friday.

Now that's what I consider fresh!
