'Go Anacostia' is the new 'Eat Shop Live Anacostia' and I couldn't be happier!

In 2010, The Advoc8te launched Eat, Shop, Live Anacostia -- a community empowerment campaign designed to highlight the wonderful things about Anacostia. It seems like just yesterday that I initiated this guerrilla campaign to drum up interest in my "stop ecret" project and how I tricked local media to cover something POSITIVE in Anacostia (I even had tv trucks lined up outside! ). It was one of my first projects under my reSPIN imprint. With a shoe string budget, the support of ARCH Development Corporation and the help of Jason Whittemore an amazing graphic designer (who was willing to work with me on the cheap) Eat Shop Live Anacostia was born. At the time I envisioned ESLA as a place for folks to learn about Anacostia events, places, and small businesses. It was one of my first big projects in Anacsotia and my first for ARCH Development Corporation where I would later work for the next five years. My plan wasn't to be the end all, be all for east of the river but hopefully be a catalyst for others to carry the torch (and frankly update the website!) as I progressed into other things.  I am so glad that 'Go Anacostia' is here and I invite you to check it out. It's super cool. :) In terms of ESLA I haven't figured out what I am going to do with it yet but I'm sure something will come to me. Lol.
