NCAC-APA is honoring me with a Distinguished Leadership Award for a Citizen Planner and I'm so thankful.

With everything that is going on, The Advoc8te is very appreciative of any bit of good news these days. :)

I am happy to announce that on November 15th at the Atlas Theater the American Planning Association National Capital Area Chapter is honoring me with their 2016 Distinguished Leadership Award for a Citizen Planner! It is so nice to be recognized for my work blogging and advocating for east of the river the past eight years. I am so honored and humbled to be included in such amazing company and by such an amazing organization. Keeping this blog alive and writing about controversial subjects has at times been challenging -- a few times it's been a little scary if I were to be honest. Ever since I moved to Ward 8 in 2007 my personal life has taken a back seat to the passion I have for this community. Sometimes the cost may have been higher than I may have liked but it has always been rewarding work. That said, it is nice to know that some people find that my work has beneficial to the revitalization of our community. I am so appreciative of such trust and recognition.

It's fitting that I will be attending this event with one of my best friends David Garber who encouraged me in 2008 to start Congress Heights on the Rise. This has been one heck of a ride and I am so proud of the work I have done and the impact it has had in my community.

If you are interested in attending this event tickets currently on sale for this event, see below for details and the other awardees. Thank you all for your support!
