TWB@THEARC
Nearly 15 years ago, The Washington Ballet expanded its education operations to serve southeast Washington, D.C. at the Town Hall Education Arts Recreation Campus (THEARC), known as TWB@THEARC, to reach underserved areas of the Washington DC community. TWB@THEARC offers community-based education programs, ballet training through The Washington School of Ballet (TWSB), and hosts TWB's community engagement programs of
DanceDC and the
EXCEL! Scholarship program. To ensure access for all, TWB offers tuition on a sliding scale based on household income and family size.

DanceDC & Excel! Scholarship Programs
DanceDC is an interdisciplinary program that provides 7 in-school residencies to second and third graders of DC Public Schools (DCPS), combining ballet with a core curriculum subjects in compliance with DCPS standards and the National Standards for Dance Education. TWB's
DanceDC Programs reach over 600 students a year and concludes with culminating performances at the end of each residency.
Each year TWB nominates passionate and talented students from
DanceDC participating schools to continue their dance training at The Washington School of Ballet for one year through the
EXCEL! Scholarship.
25 students currently benefit from EXCEL! Scholarship funding, however with sufficient support from donors through this campaign, an additional 8 students from TWB's DanceDC partner schools would benefit.
