Local advisory neighborhood commissioner  Greta Fuller told me at the time that she was glad Chughtai was pursuing tenants like grocery stores, because her greatest fear was that the site would become something along the lines of a dialysis center, which wouldn't serve the residents of a neighborhood already saturated with social and health services.
Fast forward a year and a half, and guess what's coming to the site? A dialysis center.
Michael Neibauer  reported the news this morning of a permit issued to convert nearly 11,000 square feet of the 20,000-square-foot former supermarket into a 15-station outpatient dialysis clinic.
Reached by phone, Chughtai confirms that he's bringing in a dialysis center. Attracting national retailers, he says, proved "extremely difficult."
