Natural Light and The Male Nude

Tommie Adams Photography

As a photographer with over 10 years of experience Tommie Adams has come to enjoy working with the human form. His work has been featured in travel and web publications over the past years including his work with the male nude in an article published in the on-line magazine “ME Magazine”: www.memagonline.com. This is his first exhibit to feature works with the male nude.

“I want to give the viewer the opportunity to see the diversity and emotion of the male form in various serene settings,” says Adams. “I think we are so used to seeing the female nude in the art world I wanted to remind viewers of the possibilities, strength, beauty and the importance of the male nude as an artistic subject matter as an art form as well. The settings for the majority of my pieces are in dilapidated buildings in the DC area helping me express the vulnerability of our human nature in the destructive environments that often surrounds us.”

Tommie’s work was featured during the LUMEN8Anacostia art festival at the Old Police Warehouse. His exhibit now resides on the top floor of the old Anacostia Bank building located at 2021 Martin Luther King Ave SE, and will be there through Friday, June 15, 2012.

Tommie will conduct two 1-hour seminars on photographing the male form in natural light (DATES: Saturday, April 28 from 2-3PM and the second date still to be determined) one of which will feature one of the models in person. The seminars will be held on the top floor of the old Anacostia Bank building, 2021 Martin Luther King Ave, SE.

You can also see some of his additional works on display in association with the Serenity Players in the ARCH Development Training Center, Rm 104, located at 1231 Good Hope Rd. Tommie will be one of the featured gallery speakers on Monday, May 28, 2012, from 11AM-2PM. A full list of workshops, presenters, and times, are available at http://serenityplayers.org.
