Howard Road, SE Entrance Ramp to Northbound I-295 (Anacostia Freeway) Will Be Closed Starting at 9 pm Tonight

Lane Closures and Intermittent 20-Minute Traffic Stoppages Will Also Apply to Northbound I-295 (Anacostia Freeway) Between Howard Road and 11th Street

Closures Required for Emergency Roadway Striping and Sign Panel Modifications

(Washington, D.C.)  The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will close the Howard Road, SE entrance ramp to northbound I-295 (Anacostia Freeway) starting at 9 pm tonight through 5 am tomorrow morning.  Double right lane closures will also be implemented along northbound I-295 (Anacostia Freeway) between Howard Road, SE and 11th Street, SE beginning at 8 pm tonight and will continue through 5 am tomorrow morning.  Additionally, motorists will encounter intermittent 20-minute traffic stoppages along this stretch between midnight and 5 am. The lane closures and 20 minute traffic stoppages will allow crews to complete emergency striping and sign panel modifications at the Howard Road, SE entrance ramp to northbound I-295 (Anacostia Freeway) and along the I-295 northbound lanes.

During the ramp closure, signed detours will be posted.

Detours
×          Motorists will follow the posted detour along Howard Road, SE to Anacostia Park Drive, SE then onto eastbound Suitland Parkway to access northbound I-295.
Electronic signs will be in place to provide motorists advanced notice of the scheduled detour.  Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes.
In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen conditions, this work will be rescheduled and an updated advisory will be distributed.

This closure is in addition  to the previously publicized off-peak closures of the 11th Street bridges, related ramps, local streets, Southeast/Southwest Freeway and I-295/DC 295.
