Big Chair Bar & Grill apologizes and wants you to fall in love with them again

Check out this WAMU segment by Emily Friedman on the newly revamped Big Chair Bar & Grill (formerly Big Chair Coffee). I know first hand that when Big Chair Coffee opened we were excited (and rightly so) by the space, the service, and the ambiance then... lets just say BCC went off track and with them their loyal customers.

Excerpt from the WAMU segment:

Three years ago, Big Chair became the neighborhood's first modern sit-down restaurant. But after years of slumping sales and poor customer reviews, the establishment is relaunching in hopes of luring customers back inside.
The new and improved  Big Chair Café bar and grill, as it is now known, is open to a public after a major renovation and change in management. The restaurant has expanded its menu and hopes to reassert itself as a neighborhood gathering place.
"I gave away coffee for like, 3 weeks, just to let them know that we are making a change here," says Michael Sterling, Big Chair's new manager.

With the new name, the new space and the new management I am asking my readers to please give the NEW Big Chair Bar & Grill another chance. I know everyone loves going to Uniontown (and with good reason) but the only thing better than having one great sit-down restaurant in Anacostia is having two great sit-down restaurants in Anacostia. We all know that if Big Chair fails then the story will be, "Anacostia can't support a business." By now we have all seen Uniontown's runaway success so we know that is not true.  Anacostia and Ward 8 residents can support businesses -- quality businesses.

Like a repentant ex Big Chair knows they messed up but they are willing to do whatever it takes to get you to fall in love with them again. Try to hear them out by becoming a customer again. If it doesn't work out do what all scorned lovers do  - burn their clothes in the front yard stop taking their calls.

P.S. The facade renovation was the result of a partnership with the city and ARCH Development Corporation.  The HIVE is also undergoing a facade facelift.
