Video Recap | Office of Planning & ARCH Development Corporation hold community mtng to discuss ArtPlace Grant & LUMEN8Anacostia
On Tuesday, January 10, 2012,
DC Office of Planning and
ARCH Development Corporation held their first community meeting to discuss the ArtPlace grant that was awarded to OP for four DC neighborhoods (go
HERE for the press release). The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the history of the ArtPlace grant and to solicit community input on the concepts for the Anacostia project, LUMEN8Anacostia. After collaborating with the community two "Call for Artists" were finalized and were distributed on Friday, January 13th (I will be posting those shortly).
This is the first of what will be several meetings to discuss the project, including a tour of the temporiam spaces in Anacostia. Stay tuned for dates. Strongly encouraging Ward 8 artists, performers, arts organizations, students, and local businesses to apply and participate in this project.
Unfortunately I didn't record the Office of Planning portion of the presentation that focused on the ArtPlace grant but I did get the information on the LUMEN8Anacostia project and community questions and comments. It was really inspiring to see so many folks from the community to come out, especially the East of the River Arts community.
FYI - Deanwood in Ward 7 was also awarded an ArtPlace grant. I don't have the information for that now but will try to get it.
