Overnight Closures Planned for Northbound I-295/DC 295 Between 11th Street, SE and Pennsylvania Avenue, SE

REMINDER:  Overnight Closures Planned for Northbound I-295/DC 295 Between 11th Street, SE and Pennsylvania Avenue, SE
Closures Start Tonight 
Contractor to Install Bridge Girders over Anacostia Freeway

(Washington, D.C.) Starting tonight t he District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will close the northbound lanes of I-295/DC 295 (Anacostia Freeway) from 11th Street, SE to Pennsylvania Avenue, SE to erect girders on a new bridge over the Anacostia Freeway.

Tonight’s closure is scheduled to start at 10 pm and end at 5 am tomorrow.  A second closure is scheduled to start at 10 pm on Thursday, December 1 and end at 5 am on Friday, December 2.

During the closures, signed detours will be posted.

Detour

The northbound 295 detour will direct traffic to cross the 11th Street Bridge, exit onto M Street, SE and then turn onto 9th Street, SE to travel east on Southeast/Southwest Freeway to access northbound 295 via Pennsylvania Avenue, SE.
Electronic signs will be in place to provide motorists advanced notice of the scheduled detour.
In the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen conditions, this work will be rescheduled and an updated advisory will be distributed.

These closures are in addition  to the previously publicized off-peak closures of the 11th Street bridges, related ramps, local streets, Southeast/Southwest Freeway and I-295/DC 295.
