After reading yesterday's Washington Post article, "Bus riders worry about safety after recent attacks" and recalling some of my own  terrifying dicey experiences in the system I was curious.  Is there a theme? Are certain bus/metro routes more likely to "pop-off" than others? Who are the offenders? Are the police doing enough? Is WMATA doing enough? Are fellow riders doing enough? Are these crimes against common courtesy or more of the "let-me get-my-mace" variety?
