Excerpt:
The crash was Montgomery's third fatal car accident in just over a week, according to a community public service and information Web site.

Both men, the sons of Ward 8 ANC Commissioner Anthony Muhammad, were wearing seat belts, officials said. Two women in the back seat were not wearing seat belts, but they did not suffer severe injuries, officials said.

Police said they did not know the cause of the accident.

Khalifah Muhammad, a rising sophomore English major at Morehouse College in Atlanta, was recently named the school's freshman of the year. His friends were having a difficult time Thursday believing that he was gone.

"We all found out early this morning, so everybody's like, 'This can't be real.' Khalifah was friends with everyone," said Lakin Starling, an 18-year-old English major at nearby Spelman College.

She and Khalifah became friends after he began his college career as a budding filmmaker and campus documentarian. She said Khalifah was known for keeping in touch with his friends on a daily basis, and when people stopped hearing from him Wednesday night, they knew something was wrong.
