The Advoc8te really hopes that the community, ESPECAILLY the young progressives (hint, hint)  in the community come out and V-O-T-E. Even if you have never even been to a Ward 8 Democrats meeting before come out! All the more reason why we need NEW people to get involved so that it will encourage other NEW people to get involved.  Better still,  come out and run for an officers position!  All you need to do is show up and be nominated from a fellow Ward 8 Democrat in the room.  If you are a Ward 8 resident and a registered Democrat then you are already a Ward 8 Democrat! Black or white; Young or Old; New or Lifelong resident you are a Ward 8 Democrat and you have a right and a responsbility to be involved in your community from the ground up! 

If you are registered to vote in Ward 8 and a registered Democrat then you are already in.  See how easy that was? You didn't have to fill out any forms or do anything like eat a live  bug or win an endurance challenge. You live here so you  already belong, there IS  a place for you in the Ward 8 Democrats either as a Member or an Officer  and there are NO DUES! Yipee!

So come out. Ask questions. Get involved and bring your neighbors! Carpool if you have too!  Historically, there has been very little turnout for the elections and the same folks get reelected over and over again with very little (if any) opposition. Let's change that by getting involved, casting a vote and finally becoming "the change that we seek"!

The Ward 8 Democrats Convention and Health Fair will be held this Saturday, September 19th from 10am - 2pm at the Savoy Elementary School located at 2400 Shannon Place SE (one block from the Anacostia metro station).
