Mart Liquors 2006 Voluntary Agreement
The Advoc8te has received a copy of the 2006 ABRA Voluntary Agreement signed by
J. Wook Yoo licensee of Mart Liquor and
Phil Pannell, Executive Director of the Anacostia Coordinating Council (ACC) and
Commissioner Mary Cuthbert (Chair of ANC 8C at the time). In exchange for Mr. Pannell withdrawing his protest to the Mart Liquor renewal license this Voluntary Agreement was signed.
Will be posting the Voluntary Agreement in full shortly. Mart Liquors violates the Voluntary Agreement in several places. According to the Voluntary Agreement Mart Liquors agrees to do the following in the event of community complaints:
"The Licensee [Mart Liquors] agrees to work with the community to resolve problems that brought to the attention of the Licensee. Specifically the Licensee agrees to respond with fourteen (14) business days to any written complaint that is received from the ACC and further agrees to document its reasonable efforts to respond to such written complaint. The ACC give their assurance that any complaints towards the Licensee will notify or inform the Korean American Business Association (KABA)"

The Anacostia Coordinating Council (ACC), founded in 1983, is a volunteer, membership consortium of organizations and individuals concerned with the revitalization of Anacostia and its neighboring communities east of the Anacostia River. Lead by a
local board of directors, ACC is a 501(c)(3) organization which seeks funding through the Combined Federal Campaign (#7020).
Anacostia Coordinating Council meets the "last" Tuesday of each month, 12 noon at the Anacostia Smithsonian Museum ( 1901 Fort Place, SE Washington, DC 20020), except August and December.
