Reader Comments: River East - An Area On The Rise

I've always enjoyed reviewing reader comments - almost as much if not more so than the original article itself. I think you can really feel the spirit of readers in their comment and when dealing with a community of comments I think you have a better understanding of the general mood of a community.

With that in mind I am posting the Examiner Reader comments to the DC Examiner article " River East : An Area On The Rise" - btw love the title! :) You can just feel the excitement and positivity radiating off of those that left comments. Many if not all of us in the RIVER EAST community are very connected to our community and want to see it succeed and are happy with the increase in positive media attention that RIVER EAST is receiving.

If you haven't already read the article or would like to post a comment on the original article click HERE (don't forget you can always post comments on CHOTR as well). There is an even nicer PDF version of the article available. If you would like a copy send an email to CongressHeightsOnTheRise@gmail.com.

Thanks for the lovely article and thank you for reading my blog Congress Heights on the Rise! River East is a great place to live with beautiful homes, lovely green spaces, million dollar views and great neighbors. Once you get over the mostly erroneous perception that the media ascribes to "east of the river" you will be pleasantly surprised by what you find. There are a variety of residents living in River East that are happy with their choice. Whether you are black, white, rich or poor there is a place for you here - a very NICE place for you here.P.S. There is a typo in the title: I'ts "River East" lol.

Don't sleep on Barry Farms. You'd be surprised, it's not just projects and section 8 housing. Lots of young professionals (of all races) have ventured into the unknown, and have come to call it home.

Well said! I am sure about 99% of folks have no idea there are some really nice condos back there as well and really great views as well.

Thanks for sharing some of the thoughts of the community. We will keep fighting for our neighborhood because we deserve the best.

Great article. I love it. I have 5 years in Anacostia and the decision to move here has been a good one.

Thanks for the great pub, Examiner. Kudos to the bloggers and yp's who, when blocked by the powers that be, created another route and got things done! We're remaking the game.

We appreciate the publicity! We live in Fairlawn (neighborhood between Good Hope and Penn) and have been here for 5 years. Since moving here, we have been waiting for this side of the Anacostia to explode with development - it has been SLOW. What is taking people so long to figure out this area is so great?
