LUNCH SKINS: A must have for the enviroment and my BLT!

Anyone who knows The Advoc8te knows how important BLTs are to her happiness. There is something about the combination of toasted bread (honey wheat), creamy mayonnaise (Hellman's), bacon (five slices), lettuce (3 pieces) and tomato (2 slices) that I find so reassuring. Call it the sandwich equivalent of Xanadu. I take my BLTs very seriously.

The Advoc8te is pleased to have another addition to her BLT arsenal.
My orange Lunch Skin arrived a few weeks ago from the wonderful ladies over at 3 Green Moms who thought of everything (even the packaging was environmentally friendly, made from recycled Sunday newspapers) and my Lunch Skin has been getting a heavy work out ever since.

At first I thought I would evaluate the ease, durability and convenience of my lunch skin as it related to my precious BLT. Not only did my lunch skin prove to be WONDERFUL for keeping my BLT fresh but it also dressed up my sandwich quite nicely. Never before has such a BLT sandwich looked so stylish as mine in its fashion forward, modern, orange and white seedling graphic (as of May 1st more graphics and colors are available). It's opening flap has a wonderful place for me to write my name and it opens and closes securely and in a snap with it's Velcro fold over flap. It is easy to clean and really compact when not in use.
Soon "Alice" (as I have so lovingly named my Lunch Skin) is now keeping my grapes cool and collected, my peanut butter cookies crumble free and my chips chic. My lunch skin has quickly become a lunchtime staple both in and outside of the house. It folds up quite small so it is wonderful thing to have when you have that leftover sandwich or brownie from lunch that you want to save for later.

In a nutshell I totally recommend the 3 Green Moms Lunch Skin product. I found it to be very convenient, easy to use and quite durable (after several washings it still looks brand new).

Total encourage others to visit the 3 Green Moms website, http://www.3greenmoms.com/ and check out their other wonderful products such as their Less Trashy Lunch Kits which include the reusable Lunch Skins, biodegradable Pop!Cornware (spoons and forks made from corn) and a sturdy stainless steel bottle with sport top. Even better - participate in their Fundraising program!

With all this talk about "going green" in River East I would love to see a River East organization take the progressive lead and hold a Green informational/fundraising event geared toward having us all move toward a more environmentally safe lifestyle. The discussion may have started with the proposed Anacostia River Cleanup and Protection Act but it definitely doesn't have to end there. There are lots of things we can do in our everyday life that can make huge changes in our environment. Hopefully we can all do our part.
