WUSA9: Barry Files Taxes, Finally

WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA)
-- 9NEWS NOW has confirmed through sources that Marion Barry's 2007 DC tax return was hand delivered to the City's Tax office late Friday.

His federal return was delivered to the IRS office today.

It's not known if he qualified for a refund, but Barry, according to sources, already owes the government more than three hundred thousand dollars in back taxes and penalties.

Barry's attorneys have until Monday to tell the judge in writing why he should not have his probation revoked for failing to file on time again. Prosecutors say they want him jailed. Barry's Probation officer is also asking for a hearing, saying the former four term Mayor violated his parole by missing his 2007 extended deadline.

In an exclusive interview with 9NEWS NOW last week, the former Mayor blamed the tax delay on his poor health. Barry is on dialysis and awaiting a kidney transplant that sources now say could come any day.
