Congress Heights On The Rise was very fortunate to attend the Anacostia Coordinating Council 25th Anniversary cruise aboard the Nina's Dandy on Saturday, Sept 27th.

The Anacostia Coordinating Council (ACC), founded in 1983, is a volunteer, membership consortium of organizations and individuals concerned with the revitalization of Anacostia and its nei ghboring communities east of the Anacostia River. Lead by a local board of directors, ACC is a 501(c)(3) organization which seeks funding through the Combined Federal Campaign (#7020).
Anacostia Coordinating Council meets the "last" Tuesday of each month, 12 noon at the Anacostia Smithsonian Museum ( 1901 Fort Place, SE Washington, DC 20020), except August and December.

The cruise was filled with many Ward 8 residents and supporters such as Phillip Pannell and Eleanor Holmes-Norton to name a few.

Highlights of the cruise were the wonderful views of Ward 8 from the river and the dancing talents of Pannell and Holmes-Norton - they know how to cut a rug!
